Galerie Fontana is pleased to present the exhibition Contemporary Ceramics Collective as a means of exploring the timelessness of ceramics as an intuitive handicraft. This exhibition brings together the works of artists: Carolein Smit, Elmar Trenkwalder, Feipel & Bechameil, Christian Gonzenbach, Vivian van Blerk, Etienne Pottier, Inez de Brauw and Boris van Berkum.

These ceramicists are perhaps somewhat divorced from the medium's historical context, thepieces serving as a reinvigoration of traditional detailing while simultaneously counterbalanced by aspects such as; humour, decadent violence, satire, and even animalistic sensibilities. Borne out of the current zeitgeist, there is an obvious mastery in this collection of formally accomplished works. Examples of baroque-like imagery are expertly balanced with geometric symmetry, as well as surrealist ecological formations. A contemporary twist to orthodox notions of ceramic arts.
